Available scholarships through GMEF

GMEF has continued to provide scholarships for summer music camps and college tuition. It is one of the few organizations of its type in the United States.

All Gaston County students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to participate in an audition that determines scholarship winners each year. (NEW THIS YEAR: students in 8th grade may compete for the UNC-G camp scholarships)

The scholarship winners are awarded a session of music camp at either:

• The University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Summer Music Camp,
• or The Cannon Music Camp at Appalachian State University.

For 12th-graders who plan to major in music, scholarship awards are applied to tuition at the college of their choice.

The scholarships allow students to pursue personal and professional goals.

• Lillian Atkins Michael/Ruth Day Michael Dickson/ Bennie Joe Michael Howe Orchestral String College Scholarship (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
