The purpose of the Gaston Music Education Foundation is to provide money for music scholarships to deserving high school students for summer music camp, and to college-bound students who plan to major in music. The applicants are judged by a panel of judges according to GMEF requirements, which are sent to all of the public and private high schools, and are made available to individuals upon request. Information regarding procurement of the requirements is publicized in the local newspaper. Auditions are open to any student, grade 9-12, who lives and attends school in Gaston County.
The Foundation is governed by a board of no more than thirty-five (35) members, with an executive board consisting of a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, and by our by-laws.
Our long-range plans are to continue to promote our scholarship opportunities to all eligible students in Gaston County, to raise money each year to fund the scholarships, to hold our annual audition, and to feature the winners in a free, public concert.
